Morrissey May 22 - Saint Louis
“Let this be a warning, this is what 48 looks like… So you may not want to stick around.” This is how Morrissey started his Saint Louis show, celebrating a birthday, and giving an all out incredible show, his first here since 1992.

Appearing completely at ease, he commanded the stage while the crowd went absolutely nuts; he could do no wrong.

okay, so it’s a month later and i’m finally getting around to commenting (i swear time slips away from me constantly). sounds like it was a fun show. his show here in austin was pretty great, too. wish he’s played please, please, please or girlfriend in a coma here. dang! maybe i’ll go look for clips of them on youtube. they have everything there, you know.

Glad you got to see him, when he canceled the Austin appearance a few years back it was a heart breaker, and I love the Backyard as a venue (although it sounds as if it’s in the middle of a mall now…) Yeah, he made it worth the wait for me, haven’t enjoyed a concert that much in years. Highlights for me included The National Front Disco and You’re Gonna Need Someone On Your Side (as a closer no less!). Still, opening with The Queen Is Dead shocked me, yeah, I teared up.

the national front disco is one of my favorites, so i was glad he played it here, too. yeah, what’s happened to the backyard is a disappointment. the show was still great, but the surroundings just weren’t quite the same. and i’m still bitter about that cancelled show (and the non-refundable service charges connected to it). the last time we’d seen him was back in 93 or 94, i think, at a neat theater in san antonio. we sat in the balcony.
